A unique experience for our fans last night in the Sunset Room: Luciano played an exclusive VINYL SET for Vagabundos. The Cadenza head honcho went back to the analogue format, still retaining the power and mixing skills he has always been known for, and showing that he’s clearly not only digital, if there still was some doubt about it.
Great to see the room packed from early on in the evening: this was one event not to be missed, and Luciano himself didn’t disappoint. A selection spanning 30 years of Techno and House Music, and taking in a lot of Cadenza hits and all time favs. Best of all was to see Luciano bringing out some vinyl copies he pressed only for himself, featuring a good bunch of obscure unreleased tracks. It was quite a sight to spot his own handwritten notes on the vinyls’ labels, instead of the usual colourful stickers with all the info. His makeshift titles included references such as “Perky Tool”, “Old School Groove”, “Set Closing” and “Dancefloor bomb”.
Bill Patrick and Cesar Merveille played B2B both before and after Luciano in the Main Room. Patrick, co-founder of the Robots parties and a long time revered NYC DJ, provided an upbeat and muscular set, so typically varied and touching on different genres throughout, the perfect match to Merveille’s stylish selection (with tunes from his Roche Madame label being the highlight of his set, delivering more that 2 hours of what he calls “food for the mind”).
Paris born and Berlin resident Cesar Merveille’s stylish warm up was the right follow up to Luciano’s vinyl extravaganza: with tunes selected from his Roche Madame label being the highlight of his set, he delivered more that 2 hours of what he calls “food for the mind”. Agreed 100% on that one.
More music in the Sunset Room last night by Chilean premiere chef turned House Music sensation Andre Butano: his style is very much appreciated as his sets are always directed towards groovy House and Tech-House sounds, supported by uplifting percussions and organic melodies. His own vocal tracks recorded specifically for each occasion (commenting on specific things unique to Chile’s scene and so on) are very popular amongst club-goers, and this showed up once more time last night.
Italian rising star Lino Pugliese is quickly becoming one of Cadenza’s fixtures these days: he’s releasing his Split EP with fellow Italian producer and Cadenza’s new hot name gAs today, and the 5 tracker has already gained amazing positive support from the DJ community. A stunning set from the guy yesterday, playing mood-setting pieces just as well as peak time genre-shifters. A great talent to keep an eye on.
The sets by Luciano, Carl Craig and Stacey Pullen will be highlights of Vagabundos next 9th August at Space Ibiza. ¡Tickets are already available!
