Fridays nights at Space Ibiza have transformed the way people think about experiencing live music fused with electronic.
Combining legends with fresh artists, performances with DJ sets, Beat & Raw has hit the nail directly on the head when it comes to striking a balance that allows all music lovers to enjoy, discover and unconsciously be drawn into new music experiences.
This is exactly what happened to the majority of the people in the crowd who came to Space Ibiza on August 24 to see The Temper Trap and the other headliner Front 242.
Loyal followers had abandoned all other plans when they heard that Front 242, the pioneers of looping samples of soundbites and pushing , scratching, mixing, intertwining vocals and anything else that works together were going to be at Beat & Raw. Completely blowing away those that knew exactly what to expect as well as Beat & Raw virgins looking for a new experience, the group’s infectious energy combined with electrifying and simply mesmerising visuals made an impressive show that left no one in any doubt why these guys continue to retain a legendary reputation and a huge wow factor.
Hardworking, dedicated and true to their passion, it was refreshing to see a group who can still relate the foundations of dance music and make a contemporary performance - with live instruments too - that sits perfectly on a stage today.
Australian indie rock band The Temper Trap might not have as many years under their belt as Front 242, but they too know how to engage their audience and make sure every single person has a good time.
Shrouded in a mellow glow on stage which fitted perfectly with their laid back, sunny, happy and organic style, the faultless live gig with hits such as “Sweet Disposition”, “Fader” and the endearing “Love Lost” had the crowd bobbing their heads, clapping their hands and generally losing themselves with the music.
DFormation, Dub Elements and Allan Ramirez also formed integral pieces of the overall Beat & Raw experience and as the lights came up at the end of the night, the feeling that something wonderful had happened was just as prominent as the fact that more musical boundaries had been crossed.
