He was born in the PARIS suburbs in 1977, of a French and Tunisian background. His father and two of his uncles were also DJ's.

He is an original Ed Banger Records artist and all about HIP-HOP and DANCE MUSIC.

His last album was LUCKY BOY, released in 2006.

Other EP releases are POCKET PIANO (2008), LUCKY GIRL (2007), and I AM SOMEBODY featuring CHROMEO (2006). These include remixes by THOMAS BANGALTER, KENNY DOPE, SWITCH, SURKIN, BRODINSKI and JOAKIM. His own remix resumé goes widescope from SUPERDISCOUNT to NEW YOUNG PONY CLUB, from CSS to CASSIUS.

His next record will actually be a compilation of these remixes, about to drop in APRIL 2009.

He spent 2008 touring the world with his label-mates JUSTICE and BUSY P as well as remixing SANTOGOLD (Lights Out / DJ Mehdi Remix) and GHOSTFACE KILLAH (Charlie Brown / DJ Mehdi Remix) and composing songs for SPANK ROCK and MAPEI.
2007 was equally about touring, most notably with partner A-TRAK for the inaugural FOOL'S GOLD tour in Europe and North-America, plus solo tours in Australia, Japan and Brazil.

He is one of the most prolific french Hip-Hop producer ever, having worked with its biggest stars since 1996, from BOOBA to DIAM'S, from IAM to MC SOLAAR.

Until 2002, he was the main composer for his bands IDEAL J and 113, selling several hundred thousands records and winning all major french music awards.

Mehdi is a regular London FABRIC, Ibiza SPACE and Barcelona LOFT guest. Chance is, they also are of his favourite clubs in the world.

His sets are often hailed as 'Everything black party music', 'Sex, Drums and Beats & Blues', or 'If Kraftwerk were African'.

He did the first MINI-MIX of 2008 for Annie Mac's Mash Up show on BBC RADIO 1. Made him quite proud as he really likes that show.

He appeared #10 in MIXMAG's list of TOP 20 DJ's of 2007. Consequently, he mixed the April 2008 MIXMAG covermount CD with colleagues BUSY P and FEADZ.
One of his favourite playing experiences is the COACHELLA FESTIVAL in California which he performed twice at (2007 and 2008).
Other festivals he played include SONAR, GATECRASHER, I LOVE TECHNO, PUKKELPOP, CREAMFIELDS, FUJI-ROCK, and TRANSMUSICALES, among many others.

His regular graphic collaborator is artist SO-ME, who designed all his record and mixtape covers, as well as directing the video for single I AM SOMEBODY.

His regular video partner is ROMAIN GAVRAS, who directed the SIGNATUNE video. They also co-wrote a short movie called MEGALOPOLIS in 2005 together (check it, it's dope). Other film works include various collaborations with directors ARNAUD DEPLESCHIN, SEB JANIAK, KIM CHAPIRON and the mighty JUST FOR KICKS documentary. He was hand-picked by Ryuichi Sakamoto to produce an electronic version of his 'Ravel's Bolero' theme for the BRIAN DE PALMA movie FEMME FATALE.

Most played tracks on his iPod include songs by PUBLIC ENEMY, MAURICE FULTON,CURTIS MAYFIELD and THE BEACH BOYS.

He is an appointed contributor to the infamous COOL CATS blog, along with friends Busy P, So-Me and wife Fafi.

He really feels lucky to be the son of his parents.
