When Mark Knight, leader one of the most iconic parties at Space Ibiza twitted that he was on his way to the island “for a massive @ToolroomKnights @SpaceIbiza with @FeddeLeGrand @michael_woods @mstorietoolroom” announcing that it was “going to be HUGE!” he was right to set the expectations high.
A legend in house music, Mark Knight always takes great care of the dance floor. On Wednesday, he managed once again to get people dancing in a perpetual hands-in-the-air status. A set that mixed the best of dance music with hits from artists ranging from Florence and The Machine to Eurythmics (Sweet Dreams) people chanted in a chorus as he turned the volume down to let them sing. Showing why is it that BE in partnership with Toolroom Knights is a fundamental party at Space Ibiza, demonstrating that you need very little to enjoy the best music - nothing more than the willingness to dance, no matter what you wear or if you’re VIP or not - two trapeze artists swung down from the roof, surprising dancers and DJ alike. Performing a beautiful show together with two other dancers dressed in butterfly-like costume, they added a dreamy touch to the night. Meanwhile, Mark kept complete control of the thirsty mass, making them move or relax whenever he wanted by putting his hands back onto the controls, expertly twisting the situation back and forth, over and over again.
That was the mood reigning in the Terrace when Fedde Le Grand took control of the DJ booth at 2:30am. He had been there before, checking the high spirits earlier in the night and as he returned, he clearly felt that clubbers were on a level and thirstier for more. Accompanied by impressive visuals projected onto the wall behind him, the creator of the mega-hit “Put Your Hands Up for Detroit” is a real workaholic at the controls, having fun in the DJ booth as he observed how the touch of a button would lead to ecstatic jumps from the audience.
On a much more relaxed Sunset Terrace, dancers were having a break from all the action next door. Danny Marquez, one of Space’s residents, warmed up the crowd for what was going to happen in the room next door as the people started arriving at 10pm. Later on, Oscar Cano took over until 3am, followed by Marcoloco as the one to take control of the only space where chilling was permitted.
To close the Terrace and taking over from Fedde was Michael Woods, a DJ very much associated with BE at Space. There was no doubt that only a very skilled DJ would be able to put an end to a party like this.
And as expected, it was spectacular.
