Space Ibiza Festival Toronto presented last Saturday June 9th its second edition recreating once more the magic and essence of the Better Global Club and the White Island with the rhythm of the best Techno and Tech House. After the undisputed success of the first edition, Space Ibiza counted this second time on a lavish line up, including internationally renowned artists, performances and dancers.
The emblematic room for events in Toronto, the Sound Academy, hosted the Slovenian DJ and producer Umek as the representative of the underground scene, the Pleasurekraft duo as a fusion of sounds and cultures by Kalle & Kaveh, Jay Lumen as the next promise in this new generation of DJs and producers and Space Ibiza resident Remo. A club with many possibilities, characterized for its dark and alternative style and its five unique rooms, especially the first floor glazed room and the main room which can be fill up to 2,800 people, ranging from concerts to club events.
At half past ten p.m. Space Ibiza resident Remo took over the warm up, getting ready the dance floor as the room was slowly filling. He played songs like "Throw" from Paperclip People and switch on well with the guests. At twelve a.m. it was the Pleasurekraft’s turn with a set outstand by its Tech House, the pure Great Stuff style, combined with minimalist strokes very representative of their music. His hits "Carny" and "Tarantula" were not missed, making people dance from the beginning till the end. Without doubt, it was one of the most impressive moments of the whole night. Afterwards, the Slovenian Umek was in charge of leading the masses who, halfway between a DJ set and live, unleashed the euphoria from the start. It was the first time the artist was playing in Toronto, so people were waiting impatiently for him, giving and raising his arms every time Umek raised the voltage with based effects and loops. Jay Lumen, artist who was also present in this second edition, addressed the mass to the end of the evening with a session mostly based in Techno, keeping everyone in a musical drunk that lasted until the end of the night.
In just two years, Space Ibiza Toronto Festival has become one of the most popular electronic music events in Canada. It was a unique event for all those faithful clubbers that, as with all festivals Space Ibiza, enjoy that special essence brought directly from the heart of the White Island to Toronto. As stated Afif Khan, co-owner of Vibrations, "This summer the scene just blew up with festivals happening in Toronto every few weeks. The Space Ibiza Festival was a massive success and we got amazing reviews. I look forward to bringing back Space Ibiza Festival Toronto for the third year. I want to thank everyone who supported us."
