Space Ibiza @ UMF- The post event lowdown!

You remember that lucky individual we mentioned last time that got to go all the way to Miami for the Ultra Music Festival? Well, she’s firmly back on Spanish soil and not so fully recovered from the blast that was Space Ibiza at UMF (It may take some time). But jet lag or not, unable to wait any longer, we grabbed a hold of our Secret Space Squirrel, our anonymous lady club-fiend on the Miami ground and got to hear all about the success of the Space Ibiza event at the Closing of the Ultra Music Festival, celebrated on Sunday 25th March in Miami. 11 DJs, 11 hours, 1 stage, Space Ibiza Style, here’s what happened:

Secret Squirrel! Tell us about the first part of the day…
Well, I was very eager to see the whole thing through so I rolled up at I2 midday, just in time for the official opening time of the Space Ibiza @ UMF party. First on the decks was Space Menorca resident, Gelabert, who did a great warm up, a nice underground set at 122bpm. Following on from him and taking it up a gear, the RioTGear duo soon started heating up the dancefloor, setting the pace for one of my favourite Space Resident DJs Remo to get involved with a very welcome blast of his dark and boundary crossing electronica ….Popof was next up and did a great set but it was at 4pm, when Layo and Bushwacka took over, that the party really started getting going.

And then what happened…where were you at this stage of the game?
Up the front, naturally, preparing myself for the onslaught of Nic Fanciulli…5pm in the afternoon and 7000 clubbers jumping up and down from the minute he first pressed play. Joris Voorn, another one who raised the roof, and as for Steve Lawler, he had the place rammed to the doors and beyond….we’re talking 10,000 people by this stage of the evening. The atmosphere was amazing.

Any Live performance during the event?
Yes. Brasilian DJ/Producer Gui Boratto did a fine one hour live performance halfway through the party, and had the crowd- and me- going mad within the first two tech house tracks he played…

How about the end of the night? What’s the lowdown?
The last two hours really were really off the scale. I couldn’t have been happier. Or sweatier. Between Mr. John Digweed (took the roof off) – a firm favourite of Space for many, many years and the wonderful Adam Beyer, (my personal pick from the party) the place was heaving with people, the music was tremendous, the energy amazing.

One more tune?
Unfortunately not. At 11pm, with me and the rest of the multitude baying for more, the Space Ibiza @ Ultra Music Festival was pronounced over for another year. An amazing time was had by all. Especially Me…

And there we leave our Secret Squirrel, happy in her own wee world, with the last beats of Miami still ringing in her ears….. For the meantime, she’s happy to content herself with the fact that – as per previously whispered- Ultra Music Festival, the world’s most highly acclaimed electronic music festival is BACK IN IBIZA this very summer, and of course, in association with Space Ibiza- Catch UMF Ibiza on the Terrace at the Space Opening Fiesta on Sunday 27thMay, party WAY back on!!
