In the Antipodes, right in the middle of Summer, the arrival of the New Year was celebrated by the best club in the world, SPACE IBIZA, with a festival that took place on the first of January 2011. For the second year running this festival was held in Sydney and has become a key date in the calendar for the majority of Clubbers who want to enjoy the best music and an unforgettable show which embodies the essence of Ibiza together with gorgeous temperatures, and all of this under the bright blue sky.
The NYE Space Ibiza Festival attracted more than 12.000 people who since the early hours of the morning devoted themselves to the music of the best artists of the moment: CARL COX, STEVE LAWLER , M.A.N.D.Y, FRANCOIS K, SEBASTIAN LEGERSEBASTIEN LEGER, DARREN EMERSON, DAVE SEAMAN, RALPH LAWSON, ANDY C, HIGH CONTRAST, NICK CURLY, ELIO RISO, CAMILO FRANCO, NETSKY and BREAK, amongst others. Their astonishingly good music together with a great production, which was very similar to the production of the legendary Opening and Closing parties held at the Ibiza superclub, meant that the party goers were totally captivated. The clubbers were able to enjoy different areas, including the main central stage, called the “FLIGHT ARENA”, which was surrounded by LED screens, and which had amazing visuals and the most astounding sound system. There were another three areas which embraced different music al styles within the electronic genre. The “Kehakuma” stage was musically speaking more underground and had the atmosphere of some of the best Space parties. We also had the “Forum “ stage with “Dubstep”, “Drum’n’bass” and “Breakbeat” and the “ Red Room” with a wide line up of Australian DJs such as BEN MORRIS, GABBY, MITCH CROSHER, ANDREW WOWK, PQM, DANNI B, ROBBIE LOWE or BUMP DJS, all of them highly well known and between all of them they made sure they delighted the public.
The mix of different styles, incredible sound systems, astonishing visuals, the most amazing dancers and a strong line up made this a festival to remember. At the main stage the ex-Underworld Darren Emerson, followed by Dave Seaman and Space Ibiza´s resident Camilo Franco, who introduced in his set a good bunch of classic tunes, gave the best possible warm up to the main artists of the party: Steve Lawler and Carl Cox who closed this line up with a technically perfect set full of energy.
The Kehakuma area grew progressively with the sets of Elio Riso, Sebastien Leger, Ralph Lawson and Nick Curly who paved the way for the experienced François K who gave one of the best sets of the festival. The German artists M.A.N.D.Y put an end to the show with their usual good vibes.
The craziness of Drum’n’Bass s was unveiled at “The Forum” with a good dose of energy thanks to the likes of Andy C, Break, Kobra Key, Netsky and High Contrast. Finally it´s worth highlighting the great organization which ensured that the public didn´t have to suffer long queues neither at the main entry nor at the bars, something that is very appreciated in these types of massive festivals. The clubbers also enjoyed more than enough space to dance (with the hordes of hot bodies everywhere to look at), and above all everyone had lots of fun and was able to start 2011 in the best possible way: with the best club in the world, SPACE IBIZA.
