There is something quite special about celebrating any sort of birthday milestone in Space Ibiza. Be it an artist or the club itself, and last Tuesday was no different. The MAMMOTH Carl Cox birthday extravaganza was absolutely phenomenal.
The lead up to Tuesday's party was like no other. With a line up including Nic Fanciulli, Heidi, Jon Rundell, Masters at Work and AudioJack we knew we were in for something special. By midnight the queues were growing and the rolling sounds of Jon Rundell were thundering through the Discoteca. Over in the Terrace, Nic Fanciulli was laying down his signature house flow which was the perfect warm up to Masters at Work. Kenny Dope and Louie Vega provided a masterclass in house with dropping bomb after bomb to the terrace all night.
Heidi took over the reigns from Jon Rundell and took the room to the next level with an awesome acid filled set. This set the bar for what was to come and with the crowd almost peaking in anticipation the happy smiling birthday boy appeared behind the decks. It was now time for the main event. The lights came up and Carl jumped on the mic to a rapturous roar of appreciation from the crowd. The King was back. Straight off the mark he ploughed into high energy techno. Even Barbara Tucker was on hand to give her regards to Carl Cox.
However even Carl couldn't escape from the limelight of his birthday as only a few minutes into his set Pepe Roselló also appeared behind the decks. This set the crowd into an even greater frenzy as those who have seen Pepe over the years will also know how much adoration and respect he has for all those who come to Spacw Ibiza. Once Carl noticed Pepe the music dropped and Pepe took over the mic and proceeded to sing Happy Birthday to Carl with the entire club who all of a sudden were holding a sea of sparklers. Another magic moment in history at Space Ibiza.
