WE LOVE... THE BIRTHDAY PARTY! Featured

Happy birthday to Space!

With the arrival of August (cue the heat wave plus thousands of Italians!) comes the annual Space Birthday Party, a behemoth of an event that this year - it's 23rd to be precise - is hosted by We Love on Sunday August 12. In the traditional birthday spirit of not doing things by halves, we've invited the mighty The Chemical Brothers to return to the hallowed Discoteca for the occasion - and if that's not the best birthday present on the planet, we don't know what is. Happy birthday to Space, from us!

Of course, that's not all folks. We have plenty more in store for the entire month of August - check out the line-ups below and come join us...

August 5
It's set to be loud and bold in the Discoteca when Chew The Fat! host proceedings. Felix Da Housecat's trademark jacking Chicago sound is complemented by Deetron's dark twisted tech and James Zabiela's across the board electronica and Foamo's rave friendly rhythms. Currently the name on everybody's lips is South London duo Disclosure, bringing a warehouse vibe to the Terraza, complementing 2manydjs, the Dutch 4/4 funk of Joris Voorn and renowned Italian producer Stefano Noferini. Meanwhile, the deep record box of resident Ryan O'Gorman kick starts the entertainment.
The irrepressible Funkagenda is joined by Jem Haynes for the early evening sessions on the Sunset Terrace. It's a breaks-themed After Dark with Mr Doris welcoming the prolific Krafty Kuts and surreptitious Agent 86. In El Salon it's our local friendly favourite bar Lo Cura's turn to let their residents loose all night long. On the Premier Etage there's a meeting of Balearic old and new with Alfredo, Jamie 'Fatneck' Lowand Ian Blevins.

SPACE BIRTHDAY PARTY: August 12

The Chemical Brothers make a rare appearance with a DJ set in a room perfectly suited to their immersive sound, with Simian Mobile Disco, Digital Genetic Pasta and Jem Haynes vs Jason Bye in support in the Discoteca. Meanwhile on the Terraza, Italian clubbing institution Savana Potente host proceedings with Italian Superstar DJ Ralf alongside perennial Savana Potente and We Love favorite Joris Voorn, with a live set from Martin Buttrich and Turin's own Yaya.

Radio 1 regulars Jaymo & Andy George take over the Sunset Terrace, joined by resident man with machines Mat Playford. After Dark, Riva Starr's Bateria Fantastica features Giom for Mr Doris' late night soiree, with hip hopper Mo'Funk and the rhythms of Ian C also in attendance. In El Salon, The Love Lounge features Ben Pound, Itchy and Sophie Lloyd. Up on the Premier Etage, The Heritage Project features father-son pairing Alfredo & Jaime Fiorito, with Ian Blevins playing on until the break of dawn.

August 19
The Innervisions collective of Dixon, Âme and Agoria make their penultimate appearance on the Terraza alongside the peerless jazz meets soul meets house of live act dOP and warming sounds of Ryan O'Gorman. In the Discoteca it's all about main room bass, with James Zabiela heading up proceedings. Resident Paul Woolford goes back-to-back with one of the most exciting talents to emerge from the dubstep scene - Appleblim. Expect searing stabs and chords from label-mates Scuba and George Fitzgerald while Jem Haynes gets things moving from the off.

Our Balearic bro Andy Baxter opens up the Sunset Terrace, before the indomitable live remixing of Funkagenda. After Dark Mr Doris welcomes the herb-laced sights and sounds of AV maestro Cheeba. Tirk Records take over El Salon with resident Matty Jand Robert Needham alongside distinguished Portuguese producer and remixer Tiago. On the Premier Etage, it's Alfredo, Callum and Ian Blevins until the break of dawn.

August 26
Long-running French magazine Trax present the Terraza, with long-term favourite Miss Kittin, the dark dance sounds of Ivan Smagghe and the forward thinking house of Dan Ghenacia, joined by London lad jozif. In the Discoteca, it's an all-out techno assault courtesy of our Italian friends Savana Potente, with resident Claude getting things rolling before purveyors of the techno vanguard Sandwell District and Skudge perform live sets, plus Berghain main man Marcel Dettmann and Detroit's Jeff Mills.

On the Sunset Terrace, the always-effervescent Jonathan Ulysses plays alongside percussionist Ian C, with a back-to-back session between Jason Bye and Jem Haynes setting the starting pistol. Nightmares on Wax's very own DJ E.A.S.E keeps things going After Dark alongside the ever-present Mr Doris and Negghead. Local haunt Lo Cura takes over El Salon with regulars David Phillips, Daisy Heartbreaker, YMW and Brian 'Brains' Beezwax. It's a Balearic affair on the Premier Etage with Alfredo, Ben Korbel and Ian Blevins playing on and on and on...
