SPACE- Who is Jonathan Ulysses?
Jonathan Ulysses has been working at Space as one of the resident DJs for the past ten years.
He has a great following in the UK and around the world and loves the experience of working the world’s best club.

How would you define your musical style?
I define my style as up-tempo, driving house music with a touch of Spanish percussion and cutting edge exclusive promos.

What DJ you admire/like, or has been influential in your career?
There are many DJs I look up to and admire. The likes of Carl Cox I think is the godfather of all electronic DJs with his consistent energy and forward thinking in the house music industry. There are others such as Roger Sanchez, Reche, Eric Morillo, DJ Deciple, Armin van Burren, Grooverider and Tony Blackburn.

How did you start with electronic music?
My start happened when I was a school kid.
I used to play at friends birthday parties, christenings and weddings from around 14 years old.
Once I got behind the decks I found that It was the only place that I wanted to stay, entertaining the crowds and enjoying the music.

How’s your relationship with Space?
J - My romance with Space started in the old terrace in 1993 when I was taken to the Opening party of the same year where I heard great Ibiza DJs like Alfredo, Alex and Reche in the old style club but the atmosphere and the feeling from the people was as strong as it is now! You were made to feel as though you were part of one great big family, just having fun in the sun.

What are you doing now? Tell us about you current projects or most recent achievements.
Throughout my DJ career I have had a lot of achievements but lately I have been with some great producers in the studio pre-paring electronic tracks for summer 2009. I have been working with producers like Peter Brown, Prok and Fitch, Juan Kidd vs The Beatthiefs. I will be releasing tracks on great labels such as Big in Ibiza, Nervous, Jay Funk and many more. I have also just compiled and mixed a new compilation for the UK label Big in Ibiza and I went on tour over the Christmas period taking in countries such as New Zealand, Australia, Bali, Russia, Singerpore, Dubai and Korea.

What else do you like apart from music? Share your interests with us.
Sex would be second, after music (laughs).
After that I would say I like to play badminton and table tennis. I love football too. My team is Arsenal FC in the UK.
I love the fish restaurants on Ibiza and I love to watch the fantastic sunsets that the island has to offer. I love fast cars and meeting interesting new people.

The best musical moment in your life was…
One of the best musical moments for me was at the closing party of Space in 2005 where I closed the outside terrace.
I played Lyonel Richie ‘All night long’ as the last track.
The whole club had hands in air singing along to the track with a lot of people, even crying for the closing of that great party. Space is the place for life.
