There’s few accolades that DJ Lucca has not picked up since she first started packing clubs across her native Czech lands and Central Europe. Having dropped into the groove promoting with the Boby Center in Brno: purveyors of the first Czech dance parties with Paul van Dyk and Nick Warren in the mid 1990s; once she got her hands on the decks herself, this avid spinner progressed rapidly through the gears: she’s been voted Newcomer of the Year, and elected as Most Popular DJ in the Czech Republic. It’s not for nothing that Lucca-fan Carl Cox spent most of his last tour opening sets with a version of her first hit, Mirage 1; a track he later included on his DVD release; or that he invited her to perform on his stage at the Dance Valley Festival in Holland.
On route Lucca earned her stripes playing the legendary Supersonic Garage parties and festivals including Metronome and Hradhouse. But love it as she may, her small home state is nowhere big enough for this lady. Spreading her wings she rolled into Dublin’s Red Bull Music Academy, only to continue trekking west, never stopping until she hit the steamy-shores of Columbia, Brazil and Argentina in 2003. Those feisty South-Americans were never going to be happy with just one such outing for their hips however, and Lucca was back the following year.
Meanwhile, when she grabs a moment at home, Lucca can be found in the studio she built herself. The results are released on her Acapulco label, as well as German Definition records and French LTD, as she continues to press the throttle to propel the Naples sound as well as minimal and tech trance sound into the future.
Not that she’s ready to sit back in a producers chair just yet; nothing beats the buzz of playing live for Lucca, as anyone that’s lucky enough to have caught one her tour gigs in stages around Europe, from Ibiza the biggest Privilege club, following venues in Spain: La Real, Fabric, Octopus and Florida 135; Germany: Sonne Mond Sterne, Frankfurt U603 11, Parkhaus Kenzingen, Universal Dog, Nature One, and Soundtropolis festival; the Czech Republic: Creamfields; Poland and Hungary Mayday, M47, Highlander in Hungary, Holland: Dance Valley, Awakenings, Decibel Outdoor, Strike One, Las Palmas Rotterdam and regular jaunts around the former-Yugoslavia and many more.
