The name Paul Ritch echoes around the world. His productions and live sets, characterised by his powerful, harmonic, and deep techno with a touch of minimalism are his true signature, one that has projected him to international acclaim. Since 2007, only one year after his production debut, Paul Ritch is considered to be one of the most highly regarded artists and producers in the global electronic scene.
Ritch, a prolific artist, has taken the Minimal scene like a storm both on the decks and as a producer. From his beginnings, everything he’s touched has turned into musical gold. His first EP, Samba (Resopal 2006), marked the launch of an extraordinary succession of masterpiece publications followed by releases that were incredibly popular including Winter Ceremony (2007), Natural Gun (2007), and Summer Ceremony (2007) or Aquarel / Crazy Madness (SCI + TEC, 2008).
In 2009 Ritch produced musical gems such as Evil Laff EP (Wagon Repair), Feeders EP (100% Pure), Carrrrramba (Various Artists EP,Vol. 1, Quartz Rec), Solarium (Drumcode), Split The Line (Quartz Rec), Canniballs EP (Quartz Rec, 2010) amongst many more. As well as perfectly reedited remixes including Ondu of Ellen Alien (BPITCH Control), Positive Education of Slam (Soma Rec), ITS Caracas of Marc Marzenit (Paradigma Musik), and Remainings III of Adam Beyer (Drumcode).
Following his skilful creative ability that has characterised him since his inception, in 2009 Paul brought to life his own label Quartz Rec, the label puts forward minimalistic sounds that are blunt, sharp and energetic.
The label is a testament of the ability Paul has to achieve perfection. With his first release, “Split EP Part 1” (Paul Ritch, 2008), he held the top 2 position in sales at Beatport, reaching over 11.000 downloads.
Following from this success, just after the label’s first birthday, Quarz Rec has included productions from Okain, Nic Fanciulli, Thomas Muller, Hermanez u OTP; as well as remixes from producers of the calibre of Dubfire or Anton Piete; while Quartz Rec releases have been charted by top artists like Richie Hawtin.
2009 was the year to reap the rewards from his efforts, Paul’s endurance and optimistic way of thinking has not only made him one of the favourites of the audience but has also afforded him the achievement of a long list of successes that show his excellence as an artist and producer. Amongst these, in 2009 Paul Ritch was nominated by Beatport as a candidate for best techno artist.
In 2009 and 2010, Paul played on stages on 4 continents including clubs such as Berghaim (Berlin), Fuse (Bruselas), Nitsa (Barcelona), Vox (Athens), The End (London), Cocorico (Reggina), Cocoon Club (Frankfurt), Goa (Rome and Madrid), Rex (Paris), Sankeys (Manchester),Lux (Lisbon), Circus (Liverpool) and Womb, Tokyo (Japan). He also performed in festivals including Awakenings (Holland), Neo Pop Festival (Portugal); Uzes Festival (France), Electrosonic Festival (Burgos, Spain); Voolt Festival (Amsterdam), WMC (Miami) and Monegros (Spain).
Without a doubt, 2011 will be a transcendental year for Paul. While his label Quratz Rec has become one of the most important in the techno scene, he continues to excel and reinvent himself through his live perfromances. With a mind set in creation, Paul Ritch will continue to grow and achieve bigger things.
