We‟re in a dark nightclub. The DJ cues his own track, hits play, the beat kicks in and hands immediately go up in the air, seized by its irresistible groove. The next DJ - Judge Jules, setting up for his own set - sees the damage done and asks what the track is. The DJ passes it to him and Jules proceeds to put it straight back into the C-DJ and hit play… and then once more, to end his set. Jules then plays it on his Radio 1 show six weeks in a row, making it his “Tried and Tested” and saying on air that it‟s “the best example I’ve heard of really getting the balance right: great chords, huge atmosphere and groovy undertone.” The track‟s secretive producer is known only by the name written in indelible ink on the CD-R - Kryder - and the track is K2. Punters across the nation start clamouring to know who Kryder is. Debates surface on blogs and dance forums. Labels, managers, punters join the hunt to track him down….

The person who successfully caught up with Kryder - perhaps not surprisingly considering his profile - was none other than Tiesto. He signed K2 to his Musical Freedom label for release in June 2011 and played it consistently in his sets during his North American tour. K2 was successfully promo‟d during the Miami Winter Music Conference, receiving massive support from the likes of Swedish House Mafia, as one of the key WMC tracks. Pete Tong played the track on his Miami Radio 1 show. That meant – in the same week – K2 had been signed by the world‟s biggest DJ, and then played on the year‟s key Radio 1 show. Quickly ascending to 12 in the Buzz Chart, DMC said of the track: “this club monster is so banging it hurts” with Mixmag (giving the track 5/5) adding of this “epic Miami monster anthem” that they “expect it to stick around throughout the Ibiza season”.

Behind the visor, Kryder (still as mysterious as he is anonymous) is the producer to look out for in 2011, with his dwarf sidekick - the classically-trained Dokta Kaotika - and a circus freakshow entourage. “We‟re producing music that stands up in any club,” says Kryder himself and that is backed up across the industry: Andi Durrant backed Kryder on his networked Capital Radio show, with Kryder featured as a Weekend Player and support has come from Kiss Radio, Juice, Radio City and across European and American stations. In terms of DJs, Kissy Sellout continues to play Kryder music both on air and in clubs and other support has come as far and wide as Calvin Harris, Laidback Luke, Eddie Halliwell, Zane Lowe, Erick Morillo and Groove Armada. It‟s shaping up to be a massive summer for these men behind the masks.

Following the massive success of K2, other tracks have been released across the planet to satiate a hungry dance floor. Kryder„s more tribal, percussive sound has been served by Brazil‟s Maquina Records with tracks such as Me and Vudu. The harder more hypnotic, electronic sound is demonstrated by track Repeat, out on the Heavy Artillery label in Los Angeles. Other Kryder cuts include No Me Gusta, currently incinerating dance floors across the globe and further massive tracks Ricochet and Avalanche are lined up for release on London‟s House Trained records in the coming months.

Kryder has a deep, underground edge; progressive house overlaid with trance chords and atmosphere; his tracks like dark, magical postcards sent out across the world. Pulling 20-hour days, the man Mixmag identified as a “Manchester promoter turned mysterious big-room boomer” is currently locked in his studio remixing the likes of Jodie Connor & Tinchy Stryder for the world‟s biggest majors such as Warner‟s, working with globally known pop stars, deftly skating that crossover from dance to pop worlds. Kryder will also be back on the road to support these tracks. Kryder recently signed to agency PFA to handle the live side of the outfit, which is sure to bring a sense of carnival back to club land. And Kryder was delighted to accept an invitation from Tiesto to play at his party at Privilege on August 15th. This means, in true Kryder style, that he will announce himself as a live act with the world‟s biggest DJ, at the world‟s biggest club. That‟s the way he rolls…
