Inspired by a mixture of the golden age of tech-house and the disparate, oddball sounds of Koze, Wruhme and Bodycode, Alex Jones is by no means a straightforward DJ. His ability to switch from hypnotic Motor City grooves to awkward, angular curveballs and back seamlessly is captivating, refreshing and has meant his stewardship of the brilliant Hypercolour and Glass Table imprints has resulted in some of the most interesting output around; Kyle Hall, Jimmy Edgar, Glimpse, Soul Clap – to name just a few. His own productions more than live up to the hype too, with Dinky, Marcus Fix, Akufen & Wolf + Lamb all championing his off-kilter house and techno characterised by an almost bullish drive to be different.
